Fountain Police Department ROBERT J. RYAN Interim Chief of Police
City of Fountain would like to announce that Lieutenant Robert Ryan of the Colorado Springs Police Department has been appointed has Interim Police Chief for the City Fountain Police Department. Lieutenant Ryan will assume his duties on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. He will be at the Police Department after an orientation at City Hall in the morning. The Colorado Springs Police Department has been gracious in their willingness to allow Lieutenant Ryan to assist the Fountain Police Department during this transitional period. Lieutenant Robert Ryan began his career with the Colorado Springs Police Department on September 14, 1981 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on December 11, 1998. As a Sergeant, he has served in a variety of units, including Sand Creek Patrol Division, Gold Hill Patrol Division, Marshalls Unit, Special Services Unit and the Falcon Patrol Division. During his tenure with the Department, as a Sergeant, Robert Ryan excelled in many areas and has been recognized in seven Written Commendations, one Department Commendation, three Commander Commendations, two Certifications of Appreciation Awards, one Life Saving Award, one Achievement Award, one Exemplary Award, two Ace Awards, two CREATE Leadership awards and one Colorado Police Protective Association Scholarship Award. Sergeant Ryan was awarded the CREATE Leadership Award in April of 2007 for his initiative, leadership, and responsibility in identifying and addressing problems, as well as, his fostering of a teamwork environment while helping others to be successful. He helped write and distribute tactical response check lists and robbery response plans for officers responding to potentially violent calls for service.
